Guitar pedals that sound like Slipknot or Nu-Metal?
I know they use a lot of different types for its creation, but just want a Nu-Metal big band sound of Im starting. Right now I have the following pedals, Dunlop Crybaby From Hell, Electro-Harmonix Nano Pocket Metal Muff, Boss Distortion MD-2 Mega, DeathMetal Digitech Pedal Danelectro D-3 Fab Metal Danelectro Fab Chorus. Supply all sounds great, but are a bit off, and although I have experimented a little. I just want to find good and solid, hardcore nu-metal sound. And I heard the Nu-Metal Pedal do kind of shit.
Four suggestions. One of them, I use the Boss Metal Zone and I'm becoming very Metalcore interested in Boss, I think it would be right up your alley. When the area of metal is collected and 80 of metal, metalcore is thicker and deeper, better for modern rock / metal I think. Second, get an EQ pedal. Does a better MXR 10-band, Boss has a 7-band (GE-7) and even has a Danelectro 7-band (Fish N Chips?). One of the biggest differences between distortion pedals (other than the degree of saturation) is EQ – Alter the sound coming out of the pedal will change the sound dramatically. It seems crazy to me that you have four different distortion pedals and you can not get a good tone at least one of them! I would suggest the purchase of an equalizer pedal and spend a week or so to experiment with it and see if you can get one of your current pedals to sound better, before going out and spending money on the other foot … and another .. and three …. What kind of amplifier are you running? For the metal, if the amplifier and speakers can not deliver the pitch, and you never be happy with how it sounds! If you have a small amp … get bigger! Bigger speakers with higher wattage ratings * usually means better bass response and a better picture (ie, sharp details), which are very important to get a piece of solid metal or lead. Marshall played yesterday 50w combo in the Guitar Center … I brought my own guitar, and although the amp is not a super high powered tube amp tones I was very deep thick metal … I was actually a little surprised by the depth and sounded beefy! GPs really surprised me with how they sound good … partly because I'm Slowly becoming a total tube snob …. * smile * So a better amp. You want at least a 12 "speaker – something smaller usually not * * give a good solid metal tone. Two 12 "speakers are better than one, and half stack (4×12) is usually bigger than you want to go – beef in the city's response frequency of the speakers themselves is very important – Fender speakers in a taxi is not going to give the same frequency response as speakers in a Mesa Boogie or a Marshall cab … and that is the sound you need. For the money, the two best upgrades you can do for your tone to upgrade the speakers and amplifier. Fourth, and finally, update their trucks. If you still have stock pickups on your guitar, you probably will not sound the way you want, unless you are connecting to an amplifier with very good (And it seems they are not, since you've gone through so many pedals!). You probably want high performance humbuckers … you can go with active pickups like Seymour Duncan Livewire / Blackouts or EMG 81/85 s. .. all of them can give solid metal and rock tones, and with the exception of loss of consciousness should give decent clean (I've heard the blackouts are too hot to get decent clean sounds?). For liabilities, I've used both Seymour Duncan JB and Alternative eight bridges in me, and I especially happy with the Alt 8 …. high performance, but has a great clean, coil-tap it, and it is very clear – do not get muddy, even with a lot of distortion! Also on board have preamps my guitars, which gives me the best of both worlds – a passive pickup with an output comparable to that of an asset. Other options include tone Seymour Duncan Customs, the invaders, Trembucker Parallel Shaft (TBNA-2), the DiMarzio D-Sonic, Evolution (both I and 2, but slightly different, one of them is acute), and of course the mighty x2n. Whatever you do, you want a high output of the bridge pickup, but a low output pickup * neck. high pills performance have strong magnets, and if the magnets are very strong neck, then actually going to start killing the support. You do not want that. I just put an Alnico II Pro (APH-1) on the neck of the guitar with Alternative 8 in the bridge. Hoo-ah, it sounds beautiful! Coil-tap and also, so that both trucks are very versatile, and if only it sounds a little "Slash" style … , Redondo, maximum Chimey nice, similar in tone to the introduction of "or" Child of mine Sweet. For reference, the guitar is an EC-100qm a cheapo guitar with a basswood body. Once I have it set up properly and had reconnected with new pads and electronic personalized just screams bloody! … So anyway, those are my suggestions. Do not look for a pedal to solve their problems … Update your amplifier, update their trucks, use some EQ. With a good amp, it should not even be necessary to a distortion pedal … maybe a souvenir or EQ pedal to push a little difficult (ie, Dimebag Darrell, Randy Roads, Kurt Cobain, etc all did, it is common to use an overdrive / booster pedal to push a tube amp harder for more crisis). Good luck! It is not easy to get a great metal tone, it takes a bit of zero and a time to experience … It is absolutely necessary Gear Solid for it … that means good speakers, amplifier, high gain sound, and at least decent output pads.
