The company name is correctly written as Hagström with an umlaut above the "o" but once Hagstrom guitars hit the English speaking market, the name was changed to include only letters with accents.
Hagstrom electric guitars solid body have occurred since 1958. The company had been producing since 1932 accordions and guitars that were a significant deviation Hagstrom of its normal. The first guitar Hagstrom Deluxe, however, had a sparkling final film that had been used for some time on their accordions.
Hagstrom soon began to hollow body guitars, along with solid-body guitars. The Viking and the rather oddly named Jimmy (the name of Jimmy D'Aquisto New York) are early examples of successful products Hagstrom hollow-body.

Hagstrom Guitars extended manufacturing lead instruments and rhythm to bass guitars in 1961. Hagstrom Standard was first model, but was produced in 1965 Hagstrom H8 that caused a stir in the music world since the world was the first bass guitar 8 string.
The sixth Hagstrom H8 produce was owned by guitar legend Jimi Hendrix. He had his bass guitar in 1967. Other bass players had known that one of the famous Hagstrom guitars include Danny McCulloch, who played bass for the animals, and Mike Rutherford, bassist of origin.
The innovation Hagstrom guitars probably reached its peak The Hagstrom H8. It is based on a normal four-string bass guitar, but the strings are just doubled up, a bit like the shape of a 12-string guitar is.
I had an interesting sound, however. This was mainly due to the lighter gauge strings being arranged above the standard and tuned strings a whole octave higher. The resulting tone was quite unique.
Hagstrom guitars were not all that the company produces. They also made a series of amplifiers and speakers. Swedish supergroup ABBA Hagstrom used equipment on their first tour around the world. However, for Hagstrom guitars are best remembered.
The company stopped Swedish side of its production in 1983. They did a collaboration with Japanese companies, but decided not to proceed in that direction. Hagstrom guitars, while much loved around the world could no longer compete with the markets of cheap labor in Asia.
It took 21 years before Hagstrom guitars, once more began production in 2004. As it could not compete with Asian countries, decided to go there and its current factory is now in China. There production plans to return to Sweden, but at the time of writing this has not happened yet.
Hagstrom guitars, especially the first, have become collectors' items. Elvis Presley wore a red Hagstrom Viking II Special Elvis Presley 68 comeback. In the early 1990 this guitar was sold for $ 50,000.
Hagstrom guitars have developed a cult of people around the world who have fallen in love with the instrument highly distinctive. Since 2006, fans gather each year for the Festival Älvdalen Hagström in Sweden during the first week of June and the sharing of stories of the guitar and play some music – Hagstrom guitars, for course.
