Learn Guitar Solo – Everyone Can Learn To Do It!
To learn guitar solo would be one, if not the most, difficult to learn with a guitar. This means solo performance that should be well entertaining even just for your self. Unless one would have a special knack for variation and showmanship, to learn guitar solo will be one heck of task. One of yesteryears favorites is Chet Atkins who still does not fail to impress on his solo guitar performances. Some current favorites are Ulli Boegershausen and Igor Presnyakov. A sensational young solo guitar performer is the 12-year old Korean Sungha Jung. Seeing and hearing them perform is just amazing. Mentioning these solo guitarist is to give an idea on what you can be.
A good high quality acoustic guitar is a must and the main tool to learn solo guitar. It has the edge over regular classic or Spanish guitars that might not be able to produce the sound of split-second string plucks made. Yes, the key to guitar solo is plucking also called fingering. Guitar solo here is differentiated to band lead guitarists who hardly do any solo for an entire song or music. Carlos Santana is an exceptional guitar soloist however most of the time he has other instruments accompanying his guitar. To be good at it, one needs to be patient because learning it slowly is the best way. It will not be simply as good if you would try to imitate the speed the way guitar virtuosos do it.
Starting off would be from the chords that one would already know. The more varied and assortment of chords will definitely help. A good wide spread of fingers creating the chords is needed to press on distant strings and frets as may be necessary. Beginners without any knowledge at all on guitar playing should take the basic guitar lessons first. Playing guitar solo will require resourcefulness for own versions. This could mean pick notes from another string or fret that could sound better or improve it. For some songs or music that would have momentary pauses, it will allow for some ad lib or insertion.
Improvisation is the key to learn guitar solo. There are many good guitar players who have improvised and eventually became exceptional guitar soloists. Chords have many variations on how to play them on the guitar. It is the variations that help guitar soloists find their own version in expressing the song. Other guitar players sometimes use their “fret” fingers to pluck the string it is pressing on. Yet others intentionally press on the fret separator to create a dull sound of the note. Something regular being done and taught to learn guitar solo is sliding on the frets and tweaking of the string. Those styles add a little spice to a note or complete the message of the music. There is a lot more that could be done to improvise on guitar solo. Tapping on the strings give also a unique sound whether on the frets or strum area. Adding life also would be tapping the guitar itself to mimic drum sounds.
