Learning Guitar for Dummies (DVD)
This was the first DVD I bought on the subject. I have asked even before I bought my first guitar, so it was a real beginner.
The pace is very slow, but as a beginner, I liked that way. It helped me to feel that had the potential to keep pace. This was very important for me to not give up.
Some may feel the rhythm This DVD is too slow, but if you are interested in starting slowly … this may be just the right pace for you.
Over time, I started collecting Guitar DVDs and now I have more than 20, but this was the place that my interest enough to make it past the formative stages of the wheel.
This DVD is ideal for people who have little or no experience with the guitar and want to start without investing in private lessons (private lessons are a good idea if you can afford). The DVD contains basics such as posture, hand position, a few basic chords and strumming. It even has a basic introduction to keyboard (Playing with fingers rather than a selection.)
I had taken a very basic class a few years ago, then taught me and some barre chords scales. I recently invested in a good mid-range guitar (Martin DC-16 GTE), so I picked up this DVD as a refresher. I found myself jumping to chapter 8 before reaching something that had not yet learned. So the title "Learning Guitar for Dummies" is apt. It is ideal for beginners as a supplement to private lessons. For intermediate players looking to develop skills such as fingering, barre chords, scales and improvisation, etc, you need something a little more advanced it. I found myself more bored and drooling on the Taylor 814 CE he was playing to focus on very basic concepts that are presented.
Other problems video: 1) his singing is terrible 2) not going over the basics, such as selecting and changing channels or some accessories that are useful even for novices (Ie, chain winders, products for cleaning and maintenance of equipment, like a lint-free cloth, a humidifier, etc.) 3) in the video that does not always follow suggested fingerings shown in the box on the screen (ie, some of the songs he plays a G chord with 1.2, and 4 fingers instead of 1.2.3 as shown in the letter, I also prefer the 1,2,4 fingering, but this can be confusing for some beginners). Besides being a good video introduction for the beginner.
I used to take guitar lessons when I was 15 years old. Learned some basic chords and could play a few songs. I had not taken the guitar for many years. My 12 year old daughter decided to learn to play guitar, so I have my old guitar and started playing again. I ordered this DVD learning guitar for Dummies by Jon Chappell and found it a great first lesson for the beginner guitarist. I not only learned one thing he did not know, but My daughter sat through the entire DVD with his guitar. Jon has a great way of explaining things calmly and with ease. I would recommend this DVD for any player beginner guitar. Even if you do not know anything about guitar, you at the end of this DVD. I had also ordered another guitar learning DVD and found to be not as good as this. Two thumbs up for this DVD! The only thing that disappoints me is that you have found other DVD's made by Jon Chappell.
My 8 year old daughter old decided he wanted to learn to play guitar a couple of mnths. In mid-October (last month) that you bought one. Surprised to see how it would manage the dishes now has lessons in school, unfortunately it seems this year. only.
I purchased this DVD for her not really knowing what to expect only to find this step by step guide Bright, simplistic to follow in every way.
DVD zoom in on guitar and positioning of the fingers on the frets, etc on the right side of the screen is the cable Mr. Chapman is playing again denoting the position of the fingers should be.
Having had no experience throughout our daughter found this DVD very informative and easy to follow as his father, unable to continue properly only at junction 9 of 10 chapters that "Fingerpicking" was introduced.
This DVD is aimed at any particular age group only for beginners of all ages. The experience of Mr. Chappell and shines through honesty as stated repeatedly that not beable to play it day to day practice is a necessity all things that beginners need to hear.
I can not praise this DVD enough hss to be one of the best if not the best of DVD and an invaluable aid to the guitar playing regardless of what type of guitar you choose to play.
If you are looking for a guide for beginners learning to play guitar i I can not recommend this too highly. You will not regret this purchase!.
I bought the Guitar For Dummies book when I got my guitar. I'm working my way through the book to think that this DVD Help – I have not been an instructor (yet). Not as deep as the book (just not enough space on DVD), but is very useful to actually see the techniques of strumming and finger Chapell applications.
I recommend buying the book along with this DVD, so you can move forward once it has been the experience of DVD.
I bought a number of different "teach yourself" tools in a variety of media to get me started on guitar and this is definitely the top of the heap. Unlike many others, this DVD of students in schools in exactly the same way a tutor (very expensive) private. He spends his time teaching not only the basic notes, but also different ways to strum and finger picking (I've noticed that may of the other books, CDs and CD-ROMs for PCs tend to ignore right hand).
The DVD moves at a constant speed and allows the student to stop and become proficient in an area before moving on and, unlike some of the music tutors run the risk of hiring your local newspaper, this guy really knows what he is doing. You can play and teach!
I can not say enough positive things about this DVD – it does exactly what it says on the cover!
