Guitar Electric
guitar electric?

is there something i can put on my fingers to keep them from hurting so much from holding down strings?

and is it common to not really be able to hold down the strongs real hard?

and whats it called when the skin gets really rough, how do you spell it. its like calis or kales or something like that but i cannot spell it.

I hate to say this, but really all you can do is just keep playing. I remember I had blisters that burst, which hurt a lot. But it does stop hurting. It is absolutely common not to be able to hold the strings down hard. Again, it simply comes with time as you build the muscles in your hands. The rough skin you’re talking about that develops on the fingertips are calluses.

I would suggest, if you’re just learning, not to start out on an electric guitar. It’s a lot more painful and harder, but beginning on an acoustic guitar builds more strength and calluses, quicker. Then, when you go back to the electric, your fingers will be more than just strong enough. ;)
