If i have a guitar with active circuitry, how can i make it passive?
If by active circuitry you are referring to a guitar with active pickups such as EMG’s you will need to replace the pickups with passive type pickups and as EMG’s use a 25 k ohm potentiometer (Pot) for the volume and tone controls you will need to replace them with 250 k audio pots (single coil pickups) or 500k pots (humbucker pickups). You can easily identify active pickups as they will have a wire going to the positive side of the battery. If by some chance you have passive pickups running into an onboard preamp then you could simply eliminate the active electronics and wire the pickups with standard passive volume and tone controls. A good book on the subject is Guitar Electronics for Muscians, by Donald Brosnac. It has pictorial schematics even a beginner can follow.
