Among the instrument cluster is the djembe membranophones. In its traditional form of this drum is constructed of wood in the form of a Large glass animal skin stretched over it. One of the favorite West African drum produces a deep bass sound when played correctly due to its shell cup-shaped.
The drum of history can be traced back to the end in the Mali Empire of the twelfth century and the tribes of any of the Malinke and Susu (also known as Numu). When the smiths of the Mandingo tribe crossed the African djembe, or Susu sanbayi as they call it, was with them and, therefore, became widespread. People of these tribes believe that the instrument contains three spirits, one of the person who makes the djembe, one of which is extracted tree wood, and one of the animals whose skin is used for the drum. Modern day players prefer to have the battery with a goatskin hide it personalized with a rope and designs carved into the wood.
Surprisingly, the djembe word is actually French and non-African origin, may be suspected. The French colonized parts of Africa and studied the styles Village music and their instruments. Because they have a hard 'j' in their language you chose to use 'dj' and was meant to have won the most recognition. There currently accepted spelling many of the drums and djembe, and yembe djimbe. It was in the 1950 and 1960 near Paris that grew djembe in the public consciousness because it is widely used by the group of ballet Les Ballet Africains. Since then, the drum has continued to grow in popularity around the world, especially among professional musicians who are grateful for their unique sound and tribal.
In Africa, the rhythm of the drum, known as the diansa, is played in the celebrations such as baptisms and weddings and to commemorate important events such as the full moon and the changing seasons. Some have even suggested that African people have used sound produced by the drum to send messages over long distances, making use of different sounds to communicate different meanings, as a kind of code language Music.
African people also use other instruments to accompany the djembe, usually dundun bells and drums. The Wolof tribe in Senegal use the djembe as part of an elaborate dance performed by their wives. While the instrument is played by women dance the 'Sabar, a provocation intended to dance attract and seduce their men.
There are three basic ways to create a sound with a djembe. The first is by pressing the center of the djembe with the open palm of one hand, creation of the note on the low. "Hitting the rim or edge of the drum with the fingers flat sound produced by the second called" tone ", and in third place with an action similar to the edge of the drum but with fingers relaxed is called a "slap."
Djembe drums are made by specialists drum makers all the world and are sought after by students, tourists, professional and amateur musicians alike. When you hear a djembe that is playing, so it's not easy to resist grooving to the sound and even beginners will appreciate the primordial energy of the African drum handling.
